A HUMAN LESSON

July 23, 2009

I like chocolate-iced cake donuts. Two of them and a cup of coffee. But that's not all I have to eat, if it were, well...

Now the people complained about their hardships in the hearing of the Lord, and when he heard them his anger aroused....The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing...
-Number 11:1,4 TNIV

I'm sure I would have been one of the chorus of whiners as well. They complained about slavery, and bondage in Egypt, now they complained about freedom and responsibility, oh yeah, and a diet, basically of donuts and coffee alone. Then Moses started whining to God about this pain-in-the-neck bunch of whiners he'd been called to lead, yes, lead!

Point? Probably many, but two to ponder. The manna was God's provision, and God proved faithful--maybe it had less to do with the particular food, but that the people would do well to learn that God was their provider. Two. Whining. Listen to our whines. As profound as they are, or as trivial, to be human is to complain. Beware, and look to God's faithful provision.
Joyfully,
