FOUND! Vol 14 No 8

February 24, 2015

Dear Friend,

Getting ready to leave this morning I unconsciously touched my back pocket and realized no wallet was there. It wasn’t on the kitchen desk or the end table or where my computer was. Puzzled I went up to my bedroom. Nope!

A gentle anxiety began to rise. Precious and important things are in that wallet: family pictures, insurance cards, medial cards, licenses, credit cards, and even my old draft card!

So down to my home office I ran, then back up to the bedroom and finally it dawned on me. I’d thrown some clothes in my car to take to the laundromat. Sure enough in one of the pairs of pants there it was. Joy!

The last words of the story of the Prodigal Son are so life giving, “He was lost and has been found.

All of us have moments and seasons in which we know we are lost in some way and the experience of being found, being welcome, being wanted is overwhelmingly wonderful.

As the woman said who searched for her lost coin, “Rejoice with me, for I have found the coin that I had lost.” And Luke concludes, “Just so, I tell you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” Luke 15:8-10.*

When we turn away from our lost way to the Lord who loves us his loving embrace is immediate.
