Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

KEEP ON

January 10, 2014

Tortoise and Hare...remember the story?  We definitely live in a "hare-society," but following Jesus is not a sprint, but endurance.  It's a tortoise thing.

And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says, 'And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones who cry out to him day and night?  Will he keep putting them of?  I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly."
---Luke 18:6-8 TNIV

The Parable of the Persistent Widow and the Unjust Judge--it's a humdinger.  She keeps demanding justice of him, and finally he relents.  Jesus tells the story in response to "that they should always pray and not give up." (Luke 18:1)  So the story is much less about justice/injustice, and much more about endurance, persistence.

Tortoises of the world unite.  Persist.  Carry on.  "Let us not weary in well-doing for in due season we will reap if we faint not." (Galatians 6:9)

Joyfully,
