HARVEST

Though most of us live in an urban setting, we get out enough to know a bit about harvest. Harvest is a situation, but also an expectation.
After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others, and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. He told them, "The harvest in plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."

Jesus speaks of a harvest too. The field is full, ripe, ready. That is the situation. The expectation is the harvest. Workers is the topic. He sends, in this case, seventy-two people out to announce the coming of the kingdom of God, that there is a new way being established in this world, not of the world, but of God. Jesus sends the workers into the field with this message.
It's no stretch of the imagination, as Jesus-Followers, that we are part of that seventy-two as well. Two things: not only are we announcers, harvesters, but we are the people committed to living in this world as we are living in the kingdom of God. Let's live the Jesus way today.
