HOSPITALITY

June 24, 2009

Sorry, and I don't intend to pick on Martha Stewart, but entertaining, table setting, having your house look like a magazine cover may have nothing to do with hospitality. And I suspect much that passes for table settings in such magazine covers is more about pretense than hospitality.

Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it.
- Hebrews 13:1,2 TNIV

A supreme virtue of Christ-centered living is hospitality. Hospitality is not necessarily entertaining people. But hospitality is welcoming people into our lives. That means that oftentimes hospitality is given when it is NOT convenient for us, but an imposition. Hospitality may mean our house is mussed, and it overturns "the world of me."

Christ wlecomes us. It is a Christ-centered way of life and don't forget, we never know when the one we welcome is Jesus himself.
Joyfully,
