OBSOLETE
August 13, 2013
Bronze weaponry, slide rules, ice boxes, Commodore 64s, typewriters, party lines, rotary lawnmowers, flintlock muskets, 78s...
By calling this covenant "new," he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
--Hebrews 8:13 TNIV
The entire book of Hebrews is about what is new that has replaced that which is obsolete. Jesus, himself, replaces, or fulfills the old priestly, sacrificial system. It's a new deal, a new covenant.
One of the problems with the old replacing the new is we confuse the container with the contents. We hold onto the container, and begin to worship and serve the container. The new covenant is about the contents, not its container; it's all about the high priest, Jesus.

Joyfully,
