Enjoy Life, Enjoy God

ANCHOR

August 10, 2013

Growing up boating, I came to learn about anchors.  One anchor was little more than a weight that tried to hold the boat in place.  But we had an anchor with plates that dug into the bottom.  That anchor really worked, no drifting once it grabbed the bottom.

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged.  We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
                                                        --Hebrews 6:18,19 TNIV

We are reminded that in Christ not only do we have a transcendent hope, but that hope in Christ anchors us.

Hope can be little more than wishful-thinking, if it is not anchored.  So our hope is not our emotions, not our circumstances, but is Christ, and Christ alone.  With him, we are anchored, sure and certain.

Joyfully,
