BRIDLE AND BIT

I always love to watch the thoroughbreds run at the Kentucky Derby, how jockey and horse are a team. Never forget, however, about the bridle and bit.

Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding, but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you.

Saint Francis described himself as "Brother Ass," meaning it was a constant challenge for him to demonstrate self-control, to be the person he wanted to be. I suspect in our honest moments, we confess the same.

But here's a tip. We do not have a bridle or bit, but we do have God's Word and the indwelling Holy Spirit. Let's not fight the Word and Spirit, and we can prosper and flourish with God's bridle and bit.
